A Poem About Daughters

by Ms Moem on September 21, 2012

A daughter is a precious being;
The apple of your eye.
And so you watch her blossom
As the months and years go by.

The beauty that was once yours
Is passed on without question
And in her, you see much of you
Or at least the slightest suggestion.

For she came, not to replace you,
But to carry your lifeline on.
She adopts many of your mannerisms
And shines with the light you once shone.

Her hopes and ambitions
Become your dreams and pleasure.
So wonderful yet bittersweet;
Both in equal measure.
